Multicultural Outreach Programs

Get Ready with the Twin Cities Red Cross and help our diverse communities prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies and disasters.

 

Since 2003 the Twin Cities Chapter has certified more than 6,100 people from diverse communities in CPR and First Aid  through classes offered in Spanish, Hmong, and Somali.

 

We've reached more than 56,000 people with culturally-specific health and safety information presented in their native languages. In addition, 32 local community organization serving diverse communities became Red Cross Authorized Providers and Presenters to continue to share our lifesaving message.

 

Community educational presentations:

We offer free 60-minute culturally specific Red Cross presentations about emergencies prevention and disaster preparedness. We'll come to your school, church community center, and any other organization or facility that serves diverse communities. Our topics include:

  • 3 Steps for Emergency Preparedness
  • Weather Safety
  • Home Fire Safety
  • Home Safety
  • Chemical Safety and Poisoning Prevention
  • Emergencies and 911
  • Heart Disease Prevention
  • Chocking Prevention
  • Flu/Pandemic Flu Prevention
  • Fall Prevention for Seniors

Presentations are offered in Spanish, Somali, Hmong or basic English for ELL audiences.

 

CPR and First Aid Trainings

Multicultural Authorized Providers and Presenter Program:

Does your organization serve diverse population?  Then you can become a Red Cross Multicultural Authorized Provider and Presenter. We'll train volunteers and/or staff from organization as a Red Cross Instructor so you can train diverse groups wherever and whenever you want. Are you bilingual?

Do you speak Spanish, Hmong, Somali or other language?  Then you can join our volunteer team to help our diverse communities be prepared!! For more information about becoming a volunteer please check our volunteer position description site.


Servicios en Español:

La Cruz Roja de las ciudades gemelas ofrece pláticas educativas en español sobre temas como preparación para desastres, prevención de incendios, preparación para las tormentas de invierno y verano, prevención de las enfermedades cardiovasculares, prevención del atragantamiento. Las presentaciones son gratuitas y se ofrecen a grupos de iglesias, escuelas, lugares de trabajo y centros comunitarios.

 

Cursos de RCP y Primeros Auxilios en Español: todos los meses enseñamos cursos en español en nuestra sede de Minneapolis. Al finalizar el entrenamiento los participantes reciben certificación de la Cruz Roja Americana.

 

Necesitamos voluntarios bilingues para ayudar a responder a desastres y para enseñar cursos de primeros auxilios.
