Become a Red Cross Instructor
If you are interested in becoming a certified Red Cross Instructor, the Twin Cities Chapter has several course opportunities available for you.
- Fundamentals of Instructor Training
- Lay Responder First Aid and CPR/AED Instructor
- Babysitter's Training Instructor
- CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer Instructor
- CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer Instructor Bridge
- Administering Emergency Oxygen Instructor Bridge
- Water Safety Instructor (FIT included)
- Lifeguarding Instructor

Become a Red Cross Volunteer Instructor
Volunteer instructors teach First Aid and CPR/AED courses, babysitter's training, and dog and cat first aid courses at the Red Cross in Minneapolis, St. Paul, metro area YMCAs, and other locations. To become a volunteer instructor, you'll need to complete an application, background check, and attend a volunteer orientation. After an interview, we'll provide the needed training and mentored teaching opportunities.
- Fundamentals of Instructor Training (4.5 hours)
- Lay Responder First Aid and CPR/AED Instructor (24 hours)

Track your progress with our Babysitter's Training Instructor Checklist - CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer (20 hours) (If you are already a Lay Responder instructor, you can complete an 8-hour bridge course.)
