35W Bridge First Responder Tribute

 

Minneapolis/St. Paul (April 10, 2008) - While it is impossible to recognize the hundreds of people and dozens of agencies that played a role in saving lives and protecting the dignity of those we lost on August 1st, the Twin Cities Area Chapter of the American Red Cross will be recognizing four groups for their efforts.  The 35W Bridge Response Tribute will take place during the first annual Heroes Breakfast on April 22nd at the Depot (300 Washington Avenue South) in downtown Minneapolis.  The event begins at 8:00 a.m. and will conclude at 9:30 a.m.  The Red Cross will recognize:

 

Representing the City of Minneapolis:

  • Tim Dolan, Police Chief
  • Lisa Dressler, Deputy Director of Emergency Preparedness
  • Alex Jackson, Interim Fire Chief
  • Steve Kotke, Public Works Director

 

For Hennepin County:

  • Rich Stanek, Sheriff
  • Tim Turnbull, Director of Emergency Preparedness
  • Martin Van Buren, Director of Emergency Medical Services at HCMC

 

On behalf of the State of Minnesota:

  • Michael Campion, Public Safety Commissioner

 

Minnesota's connection to the United States Federal Government:

  • Ray Morris, Executive Director of the Federal Executive Board of Minnesota

 

 

In addition to the 35W Bridge Response Tribute, the Red Cross will be recognizing 13 heroes in 8 categories.  They are:

 

  • Citizen Ready - Guy Warner (Minnetrista).
  • Community Ready Award - Ted Juern (Minnetonka).
  • Disaster Relief Ready Award - Julie Schwartz & Alexander Schwartz (White Bear Lake).
  • Emergency Medical Assistance Ready Award - Sierra Reiter (Prior Lake).
  • Firefighter Ready Award - Assistant Chief John Fruetel and Captain Shanna Hanson (Minneapolis Fire Department).
  • Good Samaritan Ready Award - See Vue Lee (Minneapolis).
  • Law Enforcement Ready Award - Officer Thomas Gray, Officer Nicholas Olson, Sergeant Richard Wahtera (Roseville Police Department) and Lieutenant Kim Lund (Minneapolis Police Department).
  • Youth Good Samaritan Ready Award - Lindsey Paradise (Fridley).
