American Red Cross Twin Cities Area Chapter

Red Cross Day at the Capitol

Minneapolis/St. Paul (March 26, 2007) -  In celebration of Red Cross month chapters from across the state convened in St. Paul for Red Cross Day at the Capitol.

Red Cross Mini Emergency Response Vehicle (MERV)

Various Red Cross vehicles were on display and available for the public to tour on the Capitol mall.

The vehicles included an Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV), a Mini Emergency Response Vehicle (MERV), Communications Trailer and the EMS teams ambulance.

Inside the Capitol Red Cross volunteers performed blood pressure checks on legislators and Capitol staffers.   There also was a friendly competition between Republicans and Democrats to see which party had the lowest blood pressure.  Our results showed those having no major political party affiliation most often had normal blood pressure.  Sixty percent of Republicans had high blood pressure and all thirteen democrats screened had high blood pressure.
